What Is the "Grey-Box" Stage?
A grey-box (or grey structure) represents a house where the civil contractor has completed the RCC foundation, columns, beams, slabs, and exterior brickwork or block masonry. The house stands, but none of the finishing trades have begun.
Phase 1: Concealed Infrastructure & Rough-Ins
The foundational MEP stage where electrical conduits, plumbing pipes, drainage stacks, and waterproofing barriers are installed before any wall or floor surface is closed.
Phase 2: Plastering, Ceiling & Surface Preparation
Internal wall plastering, gypsum level trueing, false ceiling framing, and door frame fixing to create straight, plumb, and even substrates for surface finishes.
Phase 3: Flooring, Tiling & Fixed Millwork
Laying vitrified tiles or marble flooring, kitchen counter granite, bathroom wall dado, balcony railings fabrication, and initial carpentry carcass installation.
Phase 4: Final Fixtures, Painting & Handover Readiness
Final electrical plate and switchgear installation, sanitary ware and CP fitting installation, putty and emulsion coats, glass partitions, and deep cleaning.
